Just Harry came out today. I opened my hands and he flew out. I didn't put him on the roof of the cage as he just sits up there and sleeps!

Harry misses the wall now :) and is getting much more reluctant to come back to me. He waddle ran in to the living room, when I walked behind him to encourage him back towards the cage. I guess a run is as good as a fly for a work out.

I'm seeing a difference in him in the cage now. He's getting more noisy and does fly up from the bottom of the cage when he's shoved/falls off a perch. He's getting bolder in the cage and is regularly chatting up Sky, this is new as before he just backed away when ever Sky was on the perch as she gets a bit pushy.

Go Harry

Hugs and smiles

Billie :)

Hi All

Well here at last are some pictures of my boys adventures out of their cage

Harry in the dining room, this is where he always flys to

This is Harry's personal fitness Trainer Tiny

Here are the boys together

Motivation begins, Tiny chasing Harry around. Jogging around on the floor is as good as flying right? hehe

Hope you like these, bless my little adventurers [image] [image] [image]

TINY! YOU GREW UP! :o What a cutie! [image]

Glad to hear Harry is getting stronger! It must be so encouraging to see him getting more energetic... even if you do have to work harder to get him back in the cage! [image]

Hi Liz

It is very encouraging to see how fast Harry is improving. He flys from the floor of the cage up to a perch now, not every time but at least his first thought isn't to look around to see if I notice and go rescue him or to climb up.

He is getting much more energetic in the cage too, to the extent that he is pushing Minty around a bit which isn't so good. Keeping an eye on that.

I adore Tiny he always looks so angelic, even when he's being cheekie. He gets really loud when the TV is on, DH gets cross and shushes them. Tiny refuses to be quiet and will gabber under his breath till hubbies back is turned then continue at full belt hehehehe

Hugs

Hi All

Well on todays flight, Harry managed to swerve! Landed, looked confused fluttered and waddled around a bit but generally on strike. Gave up and put him back in the cage.

His confidence in the cage is much improved though, rather than moping around he keeps preening and is even chatting up Sky! Previously he would have kept a low profile around Sky who has tended to push him around in the past.

Don't think Harry is going to get anywhere with Sky, she's flirting between Minty and Tiny depending on 'Who's asking' but it is nice to see Harry happier in himself and looks like he is enjoying life more now.

Hugs

Hi All

Well Harry did come out today but it took an encouraging 'shove' from DH to get him to budge off the roof of the cage [image] He flew over to the arm of my chair looked at me for a bit then flew over to the sofa [image]

He stepped up but flew at the bars of the cage just above the cage door DOH ::) After a stubborn wait he did step on my finger again to get back into the cage.

Tiny refused all offers to come out of the cage [image]

Hugs

Guess the birds will do what the birds want to do... [image]

Far be it from us humans to tell them what they ought to be doing! [image]

Glad to hear the flights are improving though!

I left the cage door open today while Harry was out, so he had somewhere near the cage to perch. He is too 'challenged/special' to understand how to get back in and sat there. Oly when he climbed onto the cage and Tiny bit his feet did he fly, to the sofa, then back to the cage. Less than 2 feet!

Sky and Tiny investigated this new gap in the cage (open door) and refused to cross it. hehehe

Bless

Billie

Hi All

I haven't forgotten you, honest. Its all a bit quiet on the exercise front. The whole flock is moulting and feeling sorry for themselves. They are all spiky heads just now and try to hide if I go near the cage.

So till they are fully feathered and looking happier I am letting them rest and grow their new feathers.

Do your birds get embarrased when they moult?

Billie :)

Yes, I reckon they do.
Check out Boris during her last moult, she really looks embarassed.

Awww Bless Borris, I bet she'd go pink if she knew you were showing everyone her bad feather day ;)

The good news in the house is that now the flock have stated to settle, Harry's fitness routine has restarted.

I got him out yesterday, and he flew from the arm chair towards the cage [image] I worked it out, if I put him on the top of the cage he won't move, if I hold him near the cage he climbs on the cage and still won't fly....BUT he's a homing budgie, put him further away from the cage and he flies towards it [image] [image]

I got him out today and he flew to the cage twice. I offered him a step up after his second flight and took him back to the cage good as gold. LOVE him.

Hi All

In today's adventure, Harry sat with me for a while, getting over the indignity of being picked up to come out for a fly. Then after a rest launched himself at the tv, he landed safely on the table in front of it.

After a look round he flew across the room and towards the cage. He'd had such a good fly I offered him a hand and he stepped up beautifully and I put him back in the cage.

What a star [image] [image]

I'm leaving Tiny and Minty in the cage, Minty would panic if out and isn't used to being handled, he's still quite nervous without Sky around. Tiny would come out if picked up but it would leave Minty in the cage alone, which just now isn't a good idea.

Harry's flying is getting much better. Landing with any style and grace needs a lot of work though [image] this does actually look a lot like Harry flying [image] bless.

Billie :)
