I know I've been pretty inactive here lately (compared to usual at least) but I've had sick kids (neice and nephew) to deal with. It's been rough, to say the least. Still no idea what's wrong with Marco and every single doctor we see keeps telling us it's just a stomach bug. But I've never seen a stomach virus wake a small child at 4 a.m. with back pain every night. It's unsettling. But he does seem to be improving, as is my neice. At least what she had was easily diagnosed as a respiratory infection and it's clearing up pretty fast. Ugh. I don't think I'll ever have my own kids. It's too scary when they get sick. We have literally taken Marco to a doctor every single day this week save for one. One day he even went twice. Keep him in your thoughts please. I hope it IS just a stomach virus and we're completely overreacting. He does seem to be getting a little better. Pets are a great distraction so I snapped a lot of pictures yesterday. There are a lot so it may take a while to load. You can see them here: community.livejournal.com/parrot_lovers/1718182.htmlThere is also an update on Mr. Molly.

They are great pictures Terri, poor pika does look very unimpressed lol.
Sending big get well vibes to Marco hun, have you instisted on a blood test? That might help them diagnose properly? or maybe he has pulled some muscles in his back when he was sick? i really dont know hun im just throwing ideas around from experience at what mine have had but i REALLY hope you can beat the doctors enough to get them to help him. As he is slowly improving he may surprise you and just "suddenly" get over it, mine have done that before after me making LOTS of noise and insisting on this that and the other and making me look a complete fool, but it was worth it to see them well again.
((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))) to your nephew and ((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) to you for being such a wonderful auntie and caring for them, they're lucky to have you. i hope all is well, let us know how he gets on xx

Oh me oh my, is Mr Molly trying to steal my love from Pika? #shocked# When you get to do stuff like that with a bird, it makes everything worthwhile doesn't it? #cheesy# I'm so sorry to hear about poor little Marco, no way should a little one like that have that kind of pain. Have your had tests done for some kind of infection? Like maybe a kidney infection? Kidneys can cause immense pain in the back. Also, in little ones of that age constipation can show as back pain, although I'm sure that is one of the first things you thought about. Keep pushing the doctor's Terri, don't accept 'it just is', there must be a reason. Even a psychological one can cause pain - is something happening in his life at the moment? Heard from his Mum? Trouble happening at school or daycare or whatever he attends? At his age it can be something relatively minor, that a child that age can blow out of all proportion., has he overheard conversations that you are moving? Please let us know what happens Terri, and give him a big sloppy kiss and hug from me

Thanks both of you for the replies and warm thoughts.
We've had blood drawn three times this week and he's had four urine tests. Everything comes back excellent though on the last urine test they said he was a bit dehydrated. Since then I've told him he'd better attach his sippy cup to his face and I bought him some popsicles to get a little more fluid into him. It's nearly 3 a.m. and I haven't heard him stirring so maybe (just maybe) he'll actually sleep through the night.
I've been suspicious as to if it might be at least partly psychological. His mother just started coming around again and I can imagine his stress; he can't know when she'll disappear again so that may have something to do with it. He didn't know anything about my plans to move so that can't be it. Actually, the only thing I've talked about lately in regards to that is Richard moving here. (Change of plans, he's going to come to America; we're starting the paper work when he's here in two weeks and getting ready for the long long long wait.)
He does have trouble at school in a way as he seems to have a learning disability and he has a really bad speech impediment. Then again, he's only in his first year of "real" school so it's still fun to him and he doesn't seem to dislike going. In fact, he tried to go on Friday and was sent home sick by the nurse. He really seemed to want to go though and appeared to be feeling ten times better so I took him and left instructions for them to let me know if things didn't go well. Obviously, they didn't.
My sleeping schedule is so messed up that I think I'll wait another hour to see if he stirs and then get some sleep. If he doesn't wake up with pain it will be a very good sign! If he does... I have NO clue where to go from here. The ER doctors always do and say the same exact things. They take blood, they take urine, they pronounce him fine and then they send him off. Ugh. I won't even get into yesterday morning's fiasco at the ER. I'll just say that I wasn't happy with anyone that day. Not the nurses, the doctors, my mother, OR the college kids hanging out in the ER talking about their holidays in Vegas instead of working.

Could you not take him to a different hospital? i dont know how it all works over there im comparison to here but a second opinion from a different place might help?
If this isnt possible - get down that ER and kick up such a stink that they take notice - its the only way i got Jamie diagnosed with mulitple allergy syndrome and since they found out what it is we can treat him for it (almost)
Have faith in yourself, you know him better than the people that are meant to treat him so they should be listening to you not just sending you home each time
Good luck - let us know xx

How is he today Terri? When he is better, will you please pm me about his learning difficulties? That's a learning curve and a half for you, and a great way to overcome shyness! Trust me on this!
