OK, I haven't posted pics in a while, so I had some fun with the camera yesterday. Enjoy! This is my aviary. It is on a little hill, so it is the Budgie Hill Aviary. Here are some picture of different members of the flock doing their afternoon exercises, i.e. preening. First Sergeant... Then Dude.... Then Missy, who looks rather bashful. And here is Samwise being shy...and sleepy. Drimble (violet) the new olive hen, and Dude Samwise flirting with Anna, who seems to think Sam has bad breath! And Anna giving in, and looking like she is enjoying it. (check out those eyes up close! ) Well, thats all for now. Hope you liked them!

Thanks everyone! I really like my aviary, it is a lot of fun for the birds to fly around in, but it doesn't work out well for breeding. I didn't get all the flock in the pictures, but Lizzy, Johann, and Rosalinde have pictures in an older thread.

Your birds are gorgeous!!! Your aviary looks great for the birds during the heat in Summer. Do you put some panels over some of the wire during breeding to give them some privacy and cut drafts?

I haven't put panels up before, but that is a good idea. My aviary's current breeding situation is okay, but it is not what I would like. As you can see from the pictures, I have wood beams going around the aviary on the inside, and I hang nestboxes from those. The nestboxes have thick walls and tight seams, so they stay pretty warm, and I face the entrances away from the weather as much as possible. The brooding usually goes well, and the only part I really don't like is that having such a big flight makes it hard for the fledgelings to adjust. I'm really hoping to begin working on a new aviary soon though, so I can have better breeding conditions.
