Dear All
Tiny has been with us for two months 2 days now. He has shown no signs of illness barring his random and not repeated puke!
I have put his cage next to the big cage with the other birds in and would like your opinion about putting them in together now. They are hanging off the bars desperate to get to each other and chatting nicely, Tiny is 3 weeks into his first moult and has pin feathers still on his head but is otherwise in good health. Is it ok to put them in together at this stage. We do not have a safe room they could fly free together in but the shared cage is HUGE!
The only possible concern is the slight scuffing on both Tiny's feet the lady in the shop thought this may have been caused by a sloppy attempt at ringing him. This scuffed patch on the top of both feet has got no worse and not grown off, it is really minimul and I'm just being paranoid about it. If it was another scaly problem surely he would have bothered it more or transfered the problem to his beak which is fine. What do you think.
I really want to put them in together as they are mad to get in the same cage. I would like to put them intogether tomorrow if you all think it is ok to do so.
Many Thanks
Billie xxx

Hi Billie I'm no expert on this area, but I honestly think 2 months in you should be fine. If birdies have anything drastic this will usually show up pretty quickly. I've only ever been able to give mine a weeks quarantine (due to serious space issues!), and even this has been sharing the same air as I only have a one bedroom house The fact that they are gagging to get close to each other is a pretty good sign, plus you've got the advantage of having lots of space in the shared aviary, so Tiny will have plenty of room to scarper if anyone takes a dislike to him. I always introduce mine when I have a couple of hours to spend keeping my beady eye on them just in case. Saturday night, bottle of wine, I say go for it Let us know how they get on

Thanks Batty Well I have to admit that is exactly what I did. 4.30 put Tiny in the big cage, he flew in and landed on a low perch and there they all sat for 20 minutes eyeing each other, ready to head for the hills if anyone moved!!! Tiny climbed slowly to a lower perch then the floor and started his mucky baby habbit of eating poop, Minty is another one who does this and once he saw Tiny do it too it seemed to be love at first sight. Minty went down to Tiny and they chatted each other up followed each other around and played tag. Poor Tiny flew like a brick as his quaranteen cage didn't leave much scope for much more than a good flap and a 2 second fly from one side to the other, he got the hang of hovering well in the big cage but still lands a bit heavy. Harry landed next to Tiny who thought it was a new round of tag and when Harry flew away in terror realising who he had landed next to, Tiny followed and so it continued for a while with me as you would expect. All was ok till bed time. They have a particular perch they all want to sit on next to a drinker and there is much bickering as to who sits there. Tiny made the mistake of sitting there and as the light faded the squabbles began he had Sky o one side biting his wing and Minty on the side of the cage trying to bite his feet, all just so he would budge off the prime perch. After calling them off a few times I put my hand in Tiny stepped on and I put him on another perch and peace returned. That was yesterday and all seems fine today, had to do the same thing as it got dark tonight but other than that ;D Billie xxxxx

Well the latest news, all still fine. Bit of a squabble at bedtime but other than that all is well. Tiny has a big crush on Minty and follows him everywhere and feeds him. Sky as a result has the right hump! Minty has been sucking up and preening and feeding her trying to get back in her good books.
Great news, yesterday put a bath in and Tiny lept in and had a brillient bath, was shocked but Blue who has never done more than drink from the bath before got all excited and jumped in the bath, and out again, but she went in. Minty had a good look too. No such luck today but hoping Tiny will show them all the way. At least if they have a bath it will hopefully reduce the amount of dust the produce even if it is only a little!
