Hello everyone, I was considering buying a budgie. Are they expensive, what kind of food do they eat, do they require a large cage, and do they eat any fruit. Id appreciate an answer.

Not a really large cage, just an average cage for a budgie. They love to eat lots of veg, ie, corn, celery/leaves, capsicum, carrots, some people also like to mash these as well as potato. They love millet seed as well. They prefer veg to fruit. Normal budgie seed is good for them as well. They are not too expensive, they average around the price of 15-40 dollars, depending what colour and breed you get. In my experience with budgies, males tend to talk more than females and they are both very playful and make a great first bird.
Hope this answers some of your questions.

Once your bird is tame he/she will also try and eat food from your plate too! If you don't plan on letting your budige out of it's cage, then probably a cage about a cubic metre with heaps of toys would be ideal. Half that size if you plan on letting it out for flight & human interaction.

They also love cuttlefish, which is good for their beaks. You can buy this at petshops or nice and fresh from a beach if you live near one, dont forget to soak in water, as they may have dust or sand. A calcium block is also good for budgies as it is strong for there beaks as well.

youd be surprised!! lol my sherby will pinch the baby food out the bowl if he gets the chance and will jump through hoops for a bit of broccoli with gravy on off the edge of my plate it sounds a bit yuk, but its a good feeling when it comes to it that the bird you care for so lovingly finally trusts you enough to be as cheeky as to whip food from you while he's out to play
