That I can't answer for you Blaine. go to www.conurecrazy.com and ask there. Also Google for breeders in your area. Also try www.craigslist.com and any other breeding sites. Maybe also a Parrot Society - could also try a parrot rescue. Prices vary alot between your country and mine. I paid $100AUD for mine and he was handraised.
They need things to occupy themselves with, and love anything to chew. Plastic, or acrylic toys are okay if they are fiddly, but wood toys go down better. They are very playful, and love rings to play in, Biggs has rope rings and loves them. He has a forage box, which i put allsorts of things in so he can go and have a rummage in, including dry foods. It his toy box ;D Actually you dont need to buy expensive toys, there is loads around the house to use. I buy willow balls, and stuff them with monkey nuts, and banana chips, so he has to chew through to get at them. I buy more for Biggs, from a craft shop, or my own shop, than a pet shop.
I dont think a conure would be happy if it was left alone, without any company at all for long periods. I dont think any bird would be. Buy a conure that has been handraised, and ready. If you find a breeder where you are, perhaps, you can see it grow before you take it home.
Any bird Blaine, is better off as a pair, or with a friend. Biggs has his own cage, but hes surrounded by 4 others chattering all day. When hes out, hes either with me, or playing with Kaeci my tiel.
If you are going to be away most of the day, they need a big enough cage to have space, and at the same time, big enough to put things in as well, yet not to crowd it.It would need, be a nice size cage if you had two.
If you play with it alot then it should be okay just it and you. Icy pole sticks are a big favourite with my birds who like to destroy and they were only about $3 for 200. Don't get one from a pet store - they will tell you it's any age to get you to buy it. Get it from a breed like Scully said - especially if you can see it growing. They should be going down now to breed as you are in Spring now?
I have a dilemma. Where can Junie go now? I'm new with birds, so i've never gotten one from a breeder or given one away before. I don't want to give him back to the Pet Store unless it's a last resort. Do you have any advice on how to find someone that would take him?
