Hi, I have just bought 2 tiels, they are 11 weeks old. How and when can I sex them?
One is Latino, Apollo, the other is grey, Saturn.
They are hand reared and very loving.

At 11weeks it is still too young to tell, are you possible to take pic's? With the normal grey you will be able to tell when he/she has there first moult, you will notice more yellow feather's coming in around the face area compared to when a female the face wil remain grey. With the lutino if you shine a torch to the tail you should see some line's/bar's if the bar's are pointing down you have a male, if across a female. Although with the lutino's this isn't 100% accurate as they are very hard to see. Best of luck.

thats ok. I bought harriette as a boy at six weeks old, and she layed an egg over 12 months ago so harry is now harriette lol. I am going to buy a mate for her in a few months when the weather warms up, so hopefully will get some bubbas out of her.
Dont worry too much with the different sex michela. If you want to be sure you can get a dna done, by the vet or there are do it yourself dnas which are pretty easy.

I've heard that female tiels are more cuddly than males & males are alot noisier. Hope this helps.
