Terri, he's just out of the nest, so he's as little as you can get them . I've just gotten up, and, after such a lovely evening, now he's hissing at me . I'll get him out in a while, and remind him that I'm an okay person, that I give good scratches and pats If I can tame him, he's an inside bird. And if I can't tame a bird this little, I should sell all my birds and just give up lmao, no you cant!!!

Hi Lin I must say what a gorgeous cinnamon tiel you have. However from looking at your pic with the wings spread out it looks to be a female to me. With some birds and their genetics the birds can be what I call nest sexed if they are female. With the cinnamon mutation it is possible to sex birds at a young age even though it is not foolproof. Females have very bright wings dots going all the way up the wings and males have duller wings spots only going halfway up. The tiel is the picture looks like it has bright wing dots going all the way up indicating a female and females tend to be a lot more sooky than males. Cheers Anna

Oooh, thanks for that! Certainly is a sook! So, wooser is a girl, that will take some getting my head around. I only know the cheek patch thing, and assumed because they were so dark at such a young age that she was a he. Not that it matters, she is going to be my perpetual baby in the house. But, I do have tiels in the aviary, and despite numerous attempts, have only managed to get 1 female! I am soooo bad at sexing birds!

Ummm hate to tell you this Lin but well you can't sex a tiel by the cheek patches, only in mature greys can you do this. The rest of the mutations the females can have just as bright as cheek patch as the males. If you let me know what this little ones parents are, I might be able to confirm or not if your little one is male or female. Cheers Anna

oops, Oh well, I freely admit I know nothing about tiels Mummy was a grey with those adorable little spots on. Can't remember what Daddy was. But I have 2 of the previous clutch in my aviary, so I will take pictures later and ask you to sex them for me. So, do you need wings? I have 2 adults out there, and the 2 young birds. Tell me what you need pics of, and I'll happily go and play in the aviary later

Hi Lin yep pics would be great as sometimes birds can be visually sexed this way and yep wings would be good too. Your little cinnamon tiel is definitely a female if mum was grey with all those adorable dots (Anna scratches head LOL). Doesn't really matter what color the father was as cinnamon is what is called sex linked. All the father would need to be paired up with your female grey is either a visual cinnamon or any other color but carrying the split or hidden gene for cinnamon making any cinnamon babies from this pair all females. Hope this makes sense. Cheers Anna
