Hiya Karen i am hoping you can shine some light on the following please if you dont mind. When i had my first clutch of eggs by shrek (the one on the left with Esmi, who was the father of her first clutch) i aksed a question (on the other site) as to if there was something wrong cos the chicks eyes were all red, you very kindly reassured me that they would be lutinos all would be female and all yellow with red eyes, as one of them would be carrying the gene) YOU WERE CORRECT, so thank you for that. Anyway Esmi passed away in the winter this year, but Shrek got with Fred when my nest boxes went up in april, and she laid 07 eggs, 06 of which have hatched, when i saw the eldest ones i noticed their pale skin colour around the eye socket (when their eyes were closed) and thought oh my these are going to be red eyed too, but the last ones have got black eyes, does this mean they eggs have been fertalised by two different fathers, or is this due to her gene? Many thanks in advance Dawn xx

It would be due to Fred's gene mixed in. Sorry to hear about Esmi. I think you will get 50% green spangle & 50% ino split for spangle - if I used the genetic calculator correctly! www.gencalc.com/gen/eng_genc.php?sp=0Budgps: thanks for the thanks but it was actually Nerwen who gave you the predictions previously - I'm not that good (still learning).
