you want to hand feed some birds well now that is a good idea. My advice would be to let the pair raise one or two so the instinks is not lost. You can spoon feed the baby's or a syringe. With a spoon ( Tea Spoon ) I bend the edges up a bit so it is more curved plus it holds more mix. I don't know the name of the hand raising mix that i use i can let you know when i get home if that is ok. You can buy good hand raising mix from pet stores. At 18 days old i would feed then every 4 hours. Mix the HR food with warm water have the mix so it just drips off the spoon. So once the bird opens its beak you can tilt the spoon up so the bird can eat at will. They young will bob its head up and down while eating that is normal. You may have to hold the bird the first few feeds. I would sit the birds on a table to feed them while you hold the bird. You have said that from 10 pm to 4 am is out well that should be ok. Keep the baby's warm at all times I put the young in a cardboard box with a jumper in it and I place the box next to the hot water service. A syringe is much the same but it can cause damage to the bird. for an untrained person i would not recommend a syringe. I hope this helps you.

I have the food and syringes, plus i think its called a bulb syringe? and the hr mix. I made a brooder too. but I am not going to be home all saturday, so i think i will have to start on sunday am. I will take the 3 older ones to start with. fred, the oldest will be 24 days on sunday, is that too late to start?

That age should be fine Buuz, you could probably even do feeds every 5-6 hours at that age. In another 10 days or so you could be introducing seed for them to 'play' with. The rearing mix doesn' need to be too runny at that age as their mum & dad would well & truly have been giving them seeds & vegies. You could even puree up some vegies as that will give them a taste for it so they don't reject it when they are older.
