Well I totally forgot to take pictures throughout the little growing process but these two little darlings fledged yesterday so I thought I'd share them with you. Mum and Dad laid once and threw all the eggs out and then all the nesting material. Then she laid again in the bottom of the basket so these chicks had an uncomfortable start to life with just the rough basket weave beneath their little naked bodies! Mum & Dad: The litteluns:

Well sad news I'm afraid. I returned from holiday yesterday and when I checked this morning both youngsters had completely vanished.
My housemate said she hadn't seen any dead birds so all I can assume is that a) they got out which I don't find likely as young finches tend to stay together and close to mum and dad b) a mouse got them c) the chickens got them
I unfortunately think the latter is most likely. However, both were good little flyers and had interacted with the hens without problems before I left. Who knows?! Poor little things.
