Thanks mate, yes this is my first time with kakarikis, it is my first pair, only had them for about a month, the first ones i purchased as a "garenteed" pair were two males. After sorting out the sexes, i now have a green cock bird and a cinnamin hen and five very nice bright eggs. I also have a pair of scarlets, how is your knowledge on their breeding habits.

Well as i said, this is only from my experience, and what i have learned on here. They normally are very good parents. Mine were excellent until just before the chicks were about to be weaned, then i they seemed to pick on the older two, so i took them all out, as they were pretty good with eating anyway. I had a problem with toes with one chick, where i had to give antibiotics, and in the end he lost both back toes. The parents, were from Sal, who rescued them in the first place. So really we dont know much about where they came from, the Mum is a little darling, but sadly i have lost the male. I fed the parents lots of extra good things before the chicks were born, including formula mix, with egg food. It was one of the best experiences i have had watching those chicks grow, and i kept the one with the missing toes. It has not effect on him anyway. He was the odd chick, being a fallow, with albino eyes, so maybe that was the problem. Hence i would never breed from my little hen again.
I do love Kaks, i love thier antics. Just be warned, we all love to see baby pics on here ;D
