Tell us about the funny habits your lorikeet has! Yogie sticks his tongue up my nose He also poops when he gets excited or frightened, which includes being presented with flowers, being startled, or being picked up.

funny Yogie! When I had Bo inside she used to love playing with our feet, until she'd bite our toe then it'd be no more toe games!

My Cheeky and Mojo love to give our ears a good clean, love climbing into shoes and bags and they love hanging off the bottom of my skirt and being swished around, very carefully of course.

Hey all.
New to the forms and new to owning my own bird. His name is Monty, he was born in Oct 2007 and is a lorikeet.
I love him very much, he is so playful and loud in the mornings and late afternoons. He loves his head being rubbed.
Hope you all had a great festive season.
Dave & Monty.

Welcome Dave!
My Archie was born in October 2007 as well. Does yours still have brown eyes and some spots on his beak?
I'm really interested to know at what age their eyes turn red, and their beaks are solid orange.

Not sure what it is, but I think they will be very good friends down the track. I hate to alarm you, but that is very dangerous. Most dogs and cats carry Pasteurella, which is lethal to birds. Birds should never come into contact with cats or dogs as the Pasteurella bacteria can kill them within 24 hours.

Pasteurella can also affect humans too. It is very rare that it affects pets, normally only if they are bred and kept in dirty conditions, and or pass it on. Cattle and sheep, and pasture grazing animals get it more, as they are in a flock, or herd, and where they live with outdoor conditions. Pet rabbits are prone to it, which normally starts with sneezing, and runny noses. We catch it from pets, by bites normally, or if its carried into the home,ie a cat bites another cat who is a carrier. Long time ago, i was put into an isolation ward, as i was so ill, but they could not find anything wrong. My ex, who had contracted Pasteurella, through milking, and ended up with pneumonia/septicemia. Although he had gotten over it, months back. As it happened when we first met, we didnt really think of telling them. Anyway They thought he passed it to me, all i remember of those few days in the room, was compleatly white people Clad head to toe in plastic, i was pretty much out of it. I did'nt have it, but it shows how serious it can be.
