I'll be getting another rainbow lorikeet during the Christmas holidays. What age is it best to get a lory? I don't want to get one too young, obviously, because I'm not qualified to look after it. But at what age are they pretty much full-size and eating normal food?

As soon as they're weaned is a good time to get them. They don't take any extra care at that stage and you will have no trouble caring for one.

Good news - we've put a deposit on a little boy lorikeet! He's too young at the moment, but we'll be picking him up around Christmas. He's called Archie We're getting him from Peninsula Bird World - I seriously recommend that place. They take really good care of their birds, and their hand-reareds are unbelievably tame and affectionate. Archie's pretty expensive for a rainbow - $275 AUD, but I think it's good to support breeders that take such good care of their birds.
