Hello all,"first post here" we are looking to buy a Poicephalus family Parrot soon...We have narrowed it down to them at this moment anyway...I really love Congo Greys but have heard of them turning into a one owner bird,we have children age 8 and under...Im sure they will sooner or later want to have fun with the Parrot...We read that alot of the Poicephalus family are pretty docile and loving Parrots if you spend time with them and treat them as one of the family...Can you share your Pro's & Con's with us? Pictures are a big +,,,Cage set-up's would help also....
Very nice to meet you all and Thank you ahead of time for any response to this thread...

Hi there! Welcome to the forum! It's wonderful to hear that you've taken the time to reasearch your birdie buddy before buying one. I think you are right about the Greys, but they do have a tendancy to bond with one person. My friend used to have one that adored her husband but hated her because he was jealous of any attention that hubby gave her! I personally don't have any experience of the Poicephalus family of parrots, but am sure that someone on her will have. I've managed to find a couple of links for you though, so hopefully they will help With regards to the cage, the same rules apply whatever the species - always get the biggest cage that you have space for. www.wingscc.com/aps/poicfaq.htmwww.upatsix.com/faq/poiceph.htmwww.theparrotsocietyuk.org/petparrot.shtmlHope it helps!

Thanks folks,,pre-shate the links...
Its important to know what your getting into,I think reasearch is a major role in purchasing any animal...I do some Hobby breeding of my own..I hate it when costomers want me to buy back what i sold them do to their neglect or poor Husbandry skill level...I never feel that i can buy the animal back becuase of the risk involved to my collection...Thats one way i offer healthy animals,i never take in sick ones...
