I've had Tango for 5 months now, and I'd guess he's around 8 months old, its hard to believe it has been so long!
Our relationship has gone from good to great, he does nip me occasionally but other than that we get on well. I've been teaching him tricks, he knows 2 now, and we're working on a 3rd, I find that he struggles with some tricks that tend not to be his natural behaviours, like nodding his head, but others like turning around are much easier to train him to do.
I am concerned that he might have started trying to regurgitate for me, as he sometimes bobs his head up and down while making 'fussing' noises... I'm not sure what I'm doing that encourages this behaviour - it just seems to be him being pleased to see me...
I'm also a little concerned that he's turning into a 1 person bird, I live alone at the moment, and so am the person he see's 80-90% of the time. I went away for 2 weeks and left him in the care of my neighbour who has looked after my birds before, she said that sometimes when she was changing his food, he would go 'crazy' in the cage, flapping around and darting all over. Now whenever she comes around, he acts like he's really scared of her, he tries to get away from her any way he can, and sometimes starts shaking.
Also, he has started growling at my boyfriend who he used to be fine with, he also is very nippy around my boyfriend and is generally not nice towards him. On friday evening, he actually bit my boyfriend hard on the lip, when my boyfriend was just reaching past him to get something. I need to get this problem sorted, as I want him to be able to hang out with me, my boyfriend and my friends.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can change this behaviour?
