Communal aviary? ah Greg . . . Pale Heads are also known as "the fighting rosella" and if the PH really is a male & the Eastern female, then all your other birds in the aviary are in danger when the mating instinct comes calling. Nothing might happen, but it is definately undesirable to have them in a communal aviary especially around breeding time.
Just a heads up - I had to exchange my pair of crimson rosella's as I didn't have a spare aviary for them.

Thanks, but so far no problem. If anything the male Princess Parrot is annoying them time to time...everytime they get close, he lets them know and they keep there distance.. Mylo laid some eggs last year and one this year. The one this year was when she was in the avairy cleaning. After a while she was hiding in the nest box so l went to take her out and when l did???l found an eggs there....... I have blown them out clean so l might use them for the rosella's, if they breed and this whay l can manage them...just have to find out if it is in the rules with the DSE ..

Mylo is the best.............. Found out some interesting facts today.... My pair of Rosella's (Pale-headed/Eastern)l have had conflict information..... For the Adelaide Rosella is also a Hybrid (Yellow/Crimson) So makes me wonder why all the fuss with my breed??? Found out colour..so sad to hear colour can make a difference to liking a bird... Personnally an ugly bird is Rare""" so look forward to breeding them..he./..

Thanks Phill and Karen they(Rosella's) have kicked it off "so to speak"quickly..thats why l can't separated them..they follow each other everywhere...here's some more pics of my avairy so you get an idea why my communal avairy hasn't problems> with certain species(thou a cockatoo would make a difference..lol...) Anyway here they are for you will see there are many corners in my avairy which is important when combining different birds together... Here is the back of the Avairy Here is my communal avairy..notice it is not a normal communal..? Having this avairy in a C shape (AROUND THE GARAGE) it gives different spieces to enjoy their life at the same time.... adventure around different flights..so they don't need to look at each other at any one time,,thus why l can have this breed of Rosella with my flock... And so far no problems..he.. Here is my Rosella pair taken this arvo Anyway this avairy design has helped me keep different birds together were you normally can't.. I always think when building avairies, make sure the other species can't see you..lol..
