Thanks for the fast response. I also have heard of the blue, which apparently someone bred from 2 Rose Opalines (which I think are plain Rosa). If I could get my greedy little mits on a lutino, imagine then!! Lutinos, Rubinos, they are so beautiful

hi I breed mutation Bourke's and I never knew of a Opaline Bourke. I am not saying that there is no such bird as just about all birds have different names. I have Rosa, Pinks and Creams. My latest is the blue Bourke's. How did you find out about lutino Bourke's ? I bet they will be very pricey ?

I googled for lutino bourkes and found a few links, like www.merga.net/mates/mmut.phpThe blue I also googled for, and found www.bourkes-parakeet.nl/pg/casestudy-blue.htmlWhich the second line contains the following sentence: "Two blue hens and one cock split for blue were born in my aviary from a pair rose opaline Bourke's without extra blue." Certain websites call Rosa's Opaline, so I was assuming by that and the picture on the above website that he was referring to Rosa's. Did you purchase your blue or did you breed it? If purchased, how much and where did you get it from? If bred, how? I currently have Rosa, Rosa/Cream, Pinks, Creams and thats all for bourkes.

hi there, nice to chat to you again have an acquaintance that breeds the lutinos, hes not in australia. I asked him the question for you and this is his reply. Hi Deb
I hope your member knows that, as for any true mutation, you can"t produce a lutino if you don't have it in the background of your birds... The first European Lutino Bourkes appeared in the Netherlands in 1988. It is a sex-linked mutation so relatively easy to establish . However, as far as I know, you don't yet have it in Australia...maybe it will appear one day.
Regards A

I was at a Birdshow yesterday and there was a Bourke there that was bred from 2 lutino's (supposedly). She was half yellow and half pink which leads me to think the parents were not pure lutino but only part . . . maybe! coz cream can also be mistaken for yellow. All I know is I didn't want to part with $60 for 1 bird, I would have wanted a sibling as well because 1 bird wouldn't be much good unless I had another lutino.

I actually own a female Lutino bourke her name is Luna. I have her for sale and am wondering what the price is for one. I know a breeder that breeds them but we live in saskatchewan.

That would be too difficult to answer unless everyone here lived in the States. If it were a pure Lutino and in Australia she would be able to be sold for at least $100. Don't know about other countries though.
oh! and Welcome to Bird Crazy parrotluver! #cheesy#
