I went to a bird show on Sunday (where were you Judy?) and here is my confession. I got a the male (right) then after much humming and arring I bought this handicapped girl. She looked so lonely. This pretty little Pink Bourke Hen: and some budgies: and this Blue & White Pied Male: I also has this gorgeous Cinnamon winged Violet Hen but she died today mum said there was a butcher bird hanging around freaking the birds so she obviously got a nasty fright:

She's the Rosella on the left. See her right foot? It is curled into a ball. She's 3 years old and has learned to live with it, she walks on it & even scratches herself with it so it doesn't bother her. She's not a skittish bird either.

The Bourke is a hen. I'm going to have fun next breeding season. I have a few varieties now, think I'll breed her to a pink split rosa cock. Tracy from "that forum" forum said she was going to give me some of what she breeds next season in thanks for the cockatiels I gave her & we'll probably swap a couple to have new blood lines.
Easterns are permitted but have to have a Movement Authority to transport them. I actually had a guy in Tassie email me a week or so ago offering me 2 pairs of Tassie Easterns for my Moustache's. I said no, I was rather annoyed at his cheek as the Moustache's are worth at least 4 maybe 5 pairs!
I don't know if I'll breed them or not. It depends on them really. I don't want to put her in the large aviary & I definately can't put her in with Larry as I might end up with a Crimson/Eastern hybrid!
I could have been alot more naughty. I went to the show with $700 and came home with around $450.

Karen That is a good idea with the Bourke,s I am not sure with the Easterns as the hen might not be able to breed...time will tell. As for the Tassie Easterns I am glad you said no. There is big talk now about them being caught in the wild. Also at the moment Tassie Parks and Wild Life are trying to stop the export of Tassie Easterns and Tassie Greens. I also think I know the gentleman.

I would have come home with even less if there were more Bourke's for sale. Too many Red Rumps for sale.

The top 2 are Eastern Rosella's. The second is a Pink Bourke - not Rosella.
