Hi Gary, I was wondering, would you be able to tell me what sort of mutation my turq is if I showed you a picture? I cant work out if its a boy or girl, but I heard you can tell by their colouring.

I dont think he is any of those!! He looks like the second cinnamon with the red belly, but he also looks like the first cinnomen with the red wings. But he isnt as bright as the first one. But then, he has the blue faded band over his eyes of the dilute yellow, but they dont have red bellies. He's a strange bird. His blue isnt as bright as males blue is supposed to be. But can girls have the really bright red belly? And he also has red on his wings. He's got me puzzled. I want to get him dna tested, but I cant make myself pull out one of his feathers. But then, would his colouring be fully developed in 8-9 months of age?

Did you go into the combinations of mutations page? At the bottom of the screen click on the little icon.
If you could post a good clear picture of him I may be able to help. If you are keeping him as a pet only, does it matter whether it's a male or female?
Plucking a feather only hurts them for a second then they have a preen, sulk for a bit then they are fine. You could always take him to a vet - if there is a qualified bird vet near you.

grassparrots.free.fr/turquoise/cmtqcinopf%20021_jpg_view.htm I think that may be him! But his colours arent that bright yet. But I think he will get brighter as he gets older. Looks like he might be a girl Oh well. I was just curious as to what he is. Doesnt really matter. His only friend is a male budgie, so its not like he/she is going to breed or anything. I have thought about it down the track, but I think he likes it with just me and Hobbit. I actually think he is one mutation breed with another mutation. He looks a bit like the dark dilute crossed with the cinnamon opline female. Weird bird.

Hello friends
Some info before you decide to purchase Grass Parakeet In buying a pet birds, we should make sure that the birds is legally avaiable. Do not buy any birds if you feel that it is from illegal source. Buying birds from illegal source will create lots of problem for the owner later on. Everytimes a prospective buyer want to buy birds, they should check out whether there are vet avaiable in their area. This is to prevent 'rush' in case they have an emergency. One of the main reason I prefer to buy pet birds from the breeder or the proper resource is that they know what their handle and they will able to advice me regarding the species. If we are not an expert about the species of pets that we are going to buy I think we should really stress on this point.
Thanks for all friends
