Would depend on whether it will have it's own cage, could give you more of an idea if you let us know that luck

Hmmm, yeah, would it be inside/outside?? Small/big?? Do you want it to be tame? Do you want to breed a pair of whatever it might be?? I've always found canarys quite entertaining. They don't get very tame but they're fun to breed and they make a nice change from parrot type birds. Sing lovely too!

Ahh, well you'll be after some sort of parrot type then really. Finches and canarys don't really get tame. Although, that said, my canary will happily use me as a landing station (providing I'm holding some sort of food!!). Kakariki's are great - I think nearly everyone on here has owned one at some point. They're quite inexpensive too compared to larger parrots. Maybe look in the kakariki section for some stories and photos and to see what they can be like. Also, it's a bit of an 'out there' suggestion... a pigeon??!! I keep a few, they can get very tame if you keep just one or two and providing you give it time to learn where it's home is, it can be let out to fly loose and it will come back again. They're best kept outside though as they do pretty big poos!! Lol! I joined a pigeon forum the other day and it seems common to keep them as indoor pets in America. There are also a lot of people on there who have got their birds from animal shelters and rescued injured feral birds. I also noticed a lot of people were saying it was illegal to fly their birds in their state so best check first if you should consider it. It's a bit of a wacky idea!!

Hmmm I never actually knew what a kakariki was until I joined this forum I mean I had seen them but didn't really know what they were. Also I always kinda liked pidgeons but I don't know where I'd get one but there's a pet store around where I live that has a dove and there like a small pidgeon. But I think I'll check out the kakariki though I don't know any petstore around me that sells one

What about a little mixture of canarys and finches... if you can find a Kakariki though they are absolutely great! They'll have you in stitches in no time, they are often referred to as 'cartoon parrots' which if ever you have watched them is very appropriate You'll have to have a good sized cage for a Kakariki though as they need plenty of space to exercise, the little darlings never stop

As you have a Tiel, my Conure and Tiel get on very well playing out thier cages together.

Most good pet shops will have breeders that they can contact to try and get you a bird on special order (at least, they do where I live!). It would defo be worth going in and asking them if they can order in birds. The people working in the pet store should be able to advise you on a good bird for your circumstances too. Although, be wary if they recommend the most expensive one!! #rolleyes#
