I've had Ink for a year and a half now and he passed away while I was at camp yesterday morning. He died young (black moore's usually live longer than regular goldfish) at 1 and a half. He has been floating upside down from swim bladder disease, and now it's gotten worse. He hasn't been able to turn over to eat food, and he was probably in a lot of pain. The swim bladder disease caused him to die of starvation. When my mom took him out to bury him she said she could see the remains of food from the past few days. It looks like he hasn't been eating for a few days, and he was finally taken out of his misery yesterday at camp. R.I.P. little Inky, he's been an amazing pet. I can't write anymore because the tears are blocking ym vision.
Thank you. I just can't help feeling it was my fault. I took him off of his special food thinking he was better, and now he's dead. He could have lived on to his teens. Black moor's usually live about 15 years. If I had just given him the food I was supposed to maybe he'd be here right now and I wouldn't have had to write this topic.
you shouldnt blame yourself blain..you had no way of knowing he was still sick its a mistake every last single one of us have or could have made.. everyone goes through this when we have pets..its life & sometimes it sucks! acceptance is the hardest part of pet ownership XXhugsXX
Sorry for your loss Blaine. As Kiwi said don't blame yourself. Not one of us is perfect, who'd want to be? Ink was your learning curve. If/when you decide to get another one you will be wiser because you have learnt.
