I was at work today (I am a dog trainer at a pet store) and I was playing with a sun conure that is there right now and she ate her own poop. I've heard of this and dealt with this many times as a DOG trainer, but never heard of it with birds. Is it normal? I've never known Rosco to do it.

Unfortunately it is normal. No one has ever been able to with certainty say why they do this. All I do with mine is make sure I change their tray lining at least once a day especially when the hens are in season (bigger poops) - hate seeing them sitting on the perch munching away.

Me neither, although its very common in dogs, but you know that ;D
as a matter of interest , what do you do if a dog does this? its a difficult one to break

I've never seen my conure do this, but he doesn't seem to mind a bit of poop (which I promptly remove) in his food bowl.

My Boris likes to talk to me through the bars of the cage while her butt is hovering over the water bowl!

On the topic of the litter box, I call the turds covered with litter, "Doggie Roca" Quite a delicacy for those canines! Definetly EWW YUCK!
