I don't want to hijack the outdoor pic thread, so I decided to start a new thread. I guess since I am relatively new to bird ownership (I've had budgies, lovebirds a quaker and a little green parrot of unknown origin, but it's been years since I've owned a tame bird, my last budgie was NOT tame) this is something I have thought about, but hadn't gotten anywhere.
I want a small, but still roomy and PORTABLE outdoor aviary that I can personally build. If it's small enough to where two people can lift it into the back of a pick-up and move it (we plan on moving in about 4 years) and big enough for Rosco to play and move freely outdoors, that would be ideal. Right now, his outdoor time is very limited because my secure area is only somewhat secure. What materials, how can I cover it, bar spacing, should there be a solid ground or open ground? I really just don't know.
Once I get the actual aviary designed, I have a few more questions. What kind of branches are good? Do I need to get some from the store or can I clean ones I find outside?
I could go on all day, lol. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.

This aviary was built by the guy I bought it off. I got it off eBay for about $100 and he and his wife delivered it. We got it into our backyard by lifting it over our neighbours 6 foot high fence -2 on her side 3 on ours. It weighs no more than about 30kg! It looks solid and heavy but it isn't. It's all metal bars and sheets, we have it held down with star picket stakes. Can't help with exact materials but I know the guy used a welder.
