you know I didnt even think, I know better too..we had been given a double yellow headed amazon that either splay leg as a baby or had a broken leg that the previous owners hadnt attended to..but aside from her weird & goofy leg..they get around, I was always amazed at how that bird did get around..if she flew she always landed with a thud! but at 10-15 yrs old, there was nothing aside from surgery & pins would cure her or fix..since she was getting around in her gimpy little way just fine we left it alone..poor ole thing looked goofy but was still able to live a full life

heres the little miss/mr. This is how she/he sits on perches and about flying, she is absolutly terible and her wing feathers are very very tatty for some reason and so her flying and landing skills are awful, not to be offensive to the poor little guy/gal. sorry they are a bit blurry. is there anything i can feed for her wing feathers to get better?

Just make sure you give em plenty of fresh veggies and some cuttlebone. I give my birds a little calcium supplement in their water for a couple days every 3-4 weeks but my birds are breeders so need the extra supplements. Wait until it's been through 1 or 2 moults. Could just be overpreening too.

Aww, thats a cute little budgie! He/she would probably benefit from lots of baths too. They won't help the feathers grow back any faster but they'll help to keep them a bit tidy.

Just thought I'd add - Lemon may be having trouble flying because he can't see too well - does he have pink eyes? A lot of lutino birds have pink eyes. If he does, I've had birds in the past with pink eyes and they can't fly so well because their eyes are really sensitive to light and it impairs their vision. I used to have an albino hecks finch and he'd fly into his perchs and allsorts!

Lemon in fact does have reddy/ pnky eyes, so maybe that is the problem, but kiki has dark pink eyes and he flys like a treat, I had lemon out today and she flew into the cage with such a thud i really thought she might have done something ad but she just got straight back up and starting chirping like normal.
HOwever when i came home from town she/he had a little dried blood on her/his cere, should i be worried and take her/him to the vets or should it be ok, she/he seems fine and everything but i aint sure whether to leave it or not.

I would keep an eye on her but refrain from the vets. I reckon it's like children running amok and falling and hurting themselves.

Sounds like things are okay then. Probably still best to just keep an eye out anyway.
