I`m not sure, I do know both are seasoned breeders & the woman that had them before would at times when she got over whelmed allow them to raise a clutch now & then, but probably this first clutch I will hand raise..the cock is still such a touchy soul with me & I want these fids real hand tame it does make me feel guilty pulling them..most the birds I place in homes are for pets..I know once I get my Turquoise green cheek pair set up & they start producing I had planned to allow them to each raise a chick, due to the fact they would stay here & be paired up. wouldnt it be a stinker if after I DNA`d them they all turned out to be the same sex! oh crap that would stink! lol

they have 6 eggs still in there, I am tempted to candle them all, but am nervous I will upset it all, I have been SERIOUSLY considering pulling that chick early, but its almost as small as Spider was (my Parrotlet) he was a teensie weensie thing! what do you guys think I should do? I`m so worried about it its making me sick to my stomach, silly I know but thats me! a worry wart!

If you think you can successfully raise it then pull it now otherwise wait until the 10-14 day mark (or whenever you usually take it). I would chase out the parents and check the eggs anyway - the parents will go back in the box soon as you put it back.

Oh I pull at 14 days , but as far as taking the box off, its a bugger to put up, I am so disappointed with these 12 nestboxes I had shipped in! the top comes off! no hinges at all, I detest the dang thing & plan to hinge them & get bolts & washers to attach them correctly lol..I have confidence in my ability to take on the chick & I am glad I asked you Karen, its been wearing on my nerves like crazy LOL!

I spoke to soon when I removed the chick, it seemed chilled not alot but chilly & its crop was totally empty, once my brooder was upto temp I removed the baby & got it warm, then fed a few drops of formula..baby seemed really weak, but I had mixed pedialite in with the formula..had such high hopes for that baby.
