Hi, please excuse such a basic question from somebody who doesn't know a lot about Tiels. Is it possible / difficult / easy to get a pair of greys which are guaranted to be pure? No traces of other mutatons in their pedigree which might present itself in later generations? My passion is to preserve the "native estate", ie, to ensure that all Aussie parrots have a secure dna base of the original stock. Thanks for your patience Mike

I would have thought so, but it would be quite a hunt to find the right breeder.
Grey Tiels are lovely, hope you find some. They are lovely birds to own, very gentle, and lots of fun

There are always breeders around of any parrot species who have the passion for the dinki di originals. Finding them is usually tricky as they don't usually advertise - it's a matter of "knowing a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy" etc. The real thing though, even in the wild there are natural mutations that evolve and even if you were to get some from the wild there is never a guarantee they are pure natural. But for the pet industry, try your Parrot Society, most reputable breeders are a member - even if it's just to get the bird leg rings. BTW welcome to Bird Crazy, I hope you stick around and keep us up to date with your findings and interests.
