Hi Jen - welcome to Bird Crazy Hope this link will help you identify the colours of your budgies, they are all gorgeous by the way - Banshee is just beautiful www.geocities.com/budgies74/budgietypes.htmI'm just awful at sexing budgies so I will leave that for someone else to come along and tell you, we have some good budgie experts on here.... it would help if you had any close up pictures of the budgies cere (the little bit at the top of their beak) Enjoy the forum and keep the pictures coming - we do love our pictures on here ;D

Welcome to Bird Crazy Jen!
I've kept and bred budgies for over 20 years and I am still crap at mutations. Lets see how I go: Cinder - Normal Mauve - Male Opal - Blue Recessive Pied - Male Banshee - Blue Dominant Pied - Male Cloud - Blue Spangle (?) - Male Storm - Violet Spangle (?) - Female
Colours are harder for me to judge, the last 2 I'm not sure but think they are Spangle. Maybe if you can get full back shots of all of them too?

Thanks, I've been doing some research on it and I'm pretty sure Cloud and Storm are Spangles. And Cinder is a Mauve Dominant Pied I think, he has the white patch at the back of his head.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I have one more question, does anyone know exaclty how old Cinder is? I just need to know if he is old enough to breed.

All I can say for sure is that he is older than six months. (I can tell from his feathering.) After that, it gets really hard to tell for sure. How long have you had him? If he is over a year old, than he should be old enough to breed safely.
Just make sure he is healthy and bonded with his hen before you try to breed them, just because a bird is old enough doesn't mean it would be good for them to breed.

I haven't had him for very long, only around a month..I should just wait for a few months before breeding him then to be sure he is over a year.. Yes I would always make sure both are healthy before breeding them.

I'm sure you take good care of your flock, they look great! Sorry if I offended you, one of my personality traits is "teaching", so if I start getting too bossy, please tell me so.
