Hey There. I'm Indi, (Pebld (Petie Elvis Bella Leusy and Dottierip.) And i'm just concerned about my birds. They sneeze 6 or seven times in a row and Do the gagging reflex. I'm having trouble identifying the reason for their sickness, and one of my birds has already passed away in my hands as a result of this. Now one of my birds is showing signs of Scaly Beak, and i'm a little worried. We have moeney troubles right now so we can not afford to take my darlings to the vet. Could anyone give me advice? Gray One is DottieRip)

Well first I want to welcome you to bird crazy I myself havent personally experienced any of these symptoms you have described, but I do know even though you cannot afford it, unless your birds see a avian vet or they get some treatment soon It dont sound good at all..they need antibiotics..it sounds like they may have chlamydiosis,Psittacosis or Parrot Fever, which can be transmitted to humans so wash your hands very well.. common treatments are prescribed as follows doxycycline, its an oral drug & has to be treated for 45 days...mind you this is a guess, like I said I have never went through or experienced this with my birds.. other members will be along shortly to better help you!! hang in there

G'day Indi and welcome. I cannot offer anything that Kiwi and Laurie hasn't already suggested. Good luck and I hope you can save the others - make sure you isolate the sick one.

Hello Indi, welcome. I'm really sorry to hear about your birds, Kiwi and Laurie have given some excellent advice. All I can say is that even if the birds don't have psittacosis, a wide-range antibiotic is probably a really good idea. I'm sorry you already had to loose one of your birds, that is really tough. Hope you can take care of the rest!

No money at all basiclly and last vt bills cost over $200 and ended in a puppy being put down. I worry about them so much. and i have dreams about them dying.... Im looking over those websites thankyou

If you decide to get some antibiotics for them, most large pet stores carry a basic wide-range antibiotic with suggested doses. It isn't exactly the best treatment, but it may help as a last resort and isn't too expensive. Sorry to hear about your puppy, too!
