Hi riftnick and welcome to the forum I'm totally useless when it comes to colours but there are a few breeders on here that will be along who can answer your question Both of the budgies in that picture are just lovely though

I'm guessing the baby one's the one on the left right? Or do you want to know both? I don't know myself (but I'm tempted to say blue!! Hehe!) but someone else will know. Hopefully Karen or Budgiebuddy will pop onto this thread, they seem to be the resident budgie experts! Sorry I couldn't of been more help and WELCOME!!! to the forum ;D

Welcome Riftnick! Let me first say in response to George that I'm not a budgie expert... Karen will probably be along to correct me soon! My best guess is: On the left, a yellow face type 1 cobalt. On the right, a sky blue? opaline. They are both gorgeous birds, I've got a cock named Drimble that looks almost EXACTLY like the little one on the left. He's a funny bird... started out as a runt and now he dominates the aviary!

It must be a yellow face thing - Spunky is a small female and when she's out she'll even take on Meg Hence the name Spunky

I can only see 1 budgie pic so I've obviously come too late. The one there is definately an opaline, unfortunately the picture isn't in good light and I can't tell if it's skyblue, a pale cobalt or even violet. He's a stunner that is for sure! I wish I was an expert on budgies. Should see me on the budgie forums, I'm usually the one asking for help. hehe

There seems to be a recurring sentence on this thread... "I'm not an expert." I suppose nobody is, there is always more to learn! Good thing our fids love us anyway. ;D

I'm a friend of riftnick and I've seen this budgie and all his nest buddies. We actually purchased another bird out of the same batch of babies. I think this gorgeous boy is a lacewing of some sort. His twin sister is the same colour but has the clear marked edges on her wing feathers. This bird's Dad is a lacewing yellow headed green and his Mum is an albino. They have some more eggs and I'm dying to see what they produce in their next lot of babies. #wink#

Hi bluebird and welcome to the forum Do you perhaps have a few pictures of your new baby? Is it just the new baby you have or do you have other birds? I am constantly learning about all the different colours of budgies. They are an amazing little bird with all their colourations. I have currently a little yellow faced grey female Spunky and she is just stunning

Hi Kiwi. I just love the colour of Spunky, her name suits her. I don't have any current pics of our birds but I must get round to updating my gallery and when I get them in there I'll post them on here for everyone to look at.

I believe that would be a yellow hearted deep squat budgie... I saw quite a few when I visited africa...
