If you are new member and you haven't introduced yourself yet, please do! We love meeting new people and getting more discussions going. We can all learn more and have fun! Free free to ask questions.
Voting is open for the Beaky Kiss Competition! There are lots of fun pictures and the competition is tough so be sure and get your vote in via the poll on the Competition thread. The voting ends on October 10th, when the winner will be announced. The prize is a mystery for now, but it is bird related. Thank you to all who entered pictures and good luck!
Our Bird of the Month Award was received by Tasha for her picture of her adorable baby lorikeet! Congratulations Tasha and thank you for your great choice, George.
This has been an interesting month, with sad times (members getting hit with hurricanes and other not so nice happenings) but there has also been some very special times! For one, there has been a baby boom! (I think I said that last month, but it’s still true!)
To illustrate the baby boom theory, the following have been shared with us: Tasha has baby Indian Ringnecks, Avril hopefully will have some soon, Laurie has baby green cheek conures, Tel has baby budgies, (which I’m in love with…yes, my weakness) George’s baby finches are nearly grown up, Karen has Rosa Bourke chicks (Yes, Rosa, I mistakenly called them Rosy once already) and we are hoping for some Elegant babies as well. Last, but not least, Tasha has some lovely young kakarikis out learning to fly, so they aren’t exactly babies, but still deserving of “Awwww!”. I think we pretty much covered everything, now we just need somebody to have some macaw chicks! *hint hint*
And other new fids have been announced in the confessional, including: from Debra, a timid but sweet little girl tiel named Sheila, from Karen, yet more lovely budgies, (she picked them up while getting her car from the auto electricians, apparently) and from George, a budgie hen, (She meant to go to the hairdressers…she and Karen seem to have the same ideas!).
Here are some of my favorite things from this month. (I can’t show you them all… I just can’t fit the entire forum in a newsletter. )
SkyFeather’s daughter (a vet) had the opportunity to rescue a sweetheart of a puppy with a sad past. Hope all is going well and you can see him in Dog Crazy. SkyFeather is very proud of her GrandFid.
Canuck has been keeping us well supplied with laughter in the Muppet Board! I especially like “Calories that don’t count.” Nice bit of knowledge there!
George posted some pretty impressive pictures of the Red Arrow display in the Lounge, if you’ve heard of the Blue Angels jets, or even if you haven’t, they are something to see.
Last bit for this month, here’s your homework, neatness counts! Just kidding, but I encourage everyone to try looking at a different part of the forum that they haven’t looked at before. I’m always finding new bits of information and fun pictures that I missed the first time. Enjoy yourself!
Well, that is it for September, on to October. Have a great month everyone, and don’t forget to vote for Bird Crazy on the top site lists!
