I was just talking to someone about cookies (white chocolate macadamia ones in particular) and was wondering about white chocolate and birds. Is it ok or is it a BIG no-no like regular chocolate.
Also, I know onions are bad for them, but if the onions are cooked is it ok?

Sorry Deb I can't answer this one, I always just go by this saying - If in doubt, leave it out. I'm sure someone will have a better idea than me if either of those are safe foods or not though

Debra, onions cooked or raw are no no`s...as for the white chocolate-I wouldnt take any chances..I feel guilty for giving those little cheese cracker gold fish to my birds lol because of the salt content & preservatives, even though they love them, sometimes I think we can killl our babes with too much lovin comfort foods once in a while they get a goldfish cracker though! I just cant help it!

More cookies for Debra then! ;D No way I'd share my cookies!! Hehe!
About onions, I ocassionally (like, once every three months!) give my quails the greeny tips from spring onions. But only the very leafy bits. They quite like them but I realise they're not very good for them so they get those bits as a treat.

Did somebody mention Chocolate??..I am so here!! Real chocolate contains cocoa and theobromine which is the problem ingredient in chocolate, particularly dark chocolate for birds...dogs etc. White Chocolate has cocoa butter, but no actual cocoa solids ( the dark stuff),which is what contains the theobromine. So it would be safe to give your bird White Chocolate since it is not really chocolate but it has lots of fat which our birds don't need anyway just like us humans. But I would eat the white chocolate myself in order to keep my birdies healthy.

What a sacrifice! Eating all that chocolate so your birdies can stay safe. Sounds like the perfect plan Things we do for our parrots. I think I should also "save Shane" from all the potential harmful effects chocolate can have on his health to
