No..not a religious experience. A food experience.
I've decided to convert him from seeds to pellets. So far it's looking hopeful. I had a spare seed container so I've been playing the 'bait and switch' game. I'm pretty sure now that he knows the pellets are supposed to be food. I've even seen him stick his beak into them and hopefully swallow a few.
At the moment his main seed pot has 90% pellets, 10% seeds. When I see that he's spent a while in the main container I offer him some seeds. I think now it's just a battle of wills.

Good luck with it! It must be hard... I know with seeds at least you have the hulls so you know they're eating. I'd be a nervous wreck! Sounds like it is going pretty well though.

Hi andruec I got my birds to eat pellets by moistening the pellets until it was sticky then mix 75% seed to 25% pellets and gave them that for a few days. Then in increased the pellets and decreased the seed. Some birds were easier with the change then others. The theory is that when mixed this way, as they eat seed, the birds have a taste of the pellets as well. Then over time accept the pellets earier. I now have pellets available to my birds at all times and give small portion of seed in the morning and fruit/veg in the afternoons. Plus other treats like sprouted seed and stuuf. Birds can be stubborn little devils hey

It's his stare that is most unnerving. I swear that nothing stares at you like a budgie. It's if they they can just pause their brain indefinately

Tasha....I like your advice on how to convert to pellets. My Senegal is not real keen on pellets and I am trying different shapes and sizes...he only seems to eat them as a last resort! But I will have to try moistening them to see if he likes it better that way. Andruec...I have had budgies and know what you mean about the stare...lol. My Senegal has this look that can go right through you too....a very intense "eagle stare". Deborah
