Well you see, I got a phone call the other day asking if I would be interested in taking a few birds from an old man with cancer who can no longer look after them.
I really don't have the room for more birds but we decided to go have a look at them. Bad mistake, after much deliberation of 2 minutes, they are now living here with me
These birds, 4 Eastern Rosellas and 7 Red Rumps were in a small hexagonal aviary measuring aprox 7 foot high and aprox 1.5 meters wide and 1.5 meters deep. 3 of the Rosellas had no tails and they all looked like they could do with a bit of extra flying room. So I re arranged my aviaries to fit them in! Wouldn't you guys do that to??? C'mon fess up, you would yes??
Anyway, after all the moving around I managed to free up one aviary. It measure 7 foot high and 7 foot long and about 4 foot wide. I have them in all together which is not the ideal situation but at least they can fly and have a bit more "personal" space then before.
I will save up and get another aviary built so they can have their own families.
They are a little scruffy looking but I am hoping after a few good feeds of fruit and veg along with worming and maybe a few vitamins added, they will go back to their former glory.
Here are the Red Rumps...
Daddy Red Rump
Dad, mum and kids..
The Eastern Rosella
and 2 of the 3 stumpies
Their tails are begining to grow back so that is a good sign. Not sure what happened to their tails but at least they have feather regrowth
So as you can see, it shouldn't really be classed as a confession, more like a rescue mission
