my cockatiel makes weird squaking sounds sometimes in the morning. He sounds like he wants to whistle but he just cant. I have been trying to teach him how to whistle when i first bought him, but he just kept looking at me and turning his head side ways.

I had a pair of Cockatiels a few years go. I had a male and a female. The female hardly whistled at all but my male was a real talker and whistler. He would say "Do You Want Some Water?" and "Peek-A-boo" and "Petty Birdie". He was great at learning the first few bars of songs too like.....This Old Man......Jingle Bells.....and London Bridge Is Falling Down. Then he would mix up the songs and put them together....he was such a hoot to listen to! So keep talking and whistling to him....if it is a boy...he should talk soon!

My Tiel makes funny sounds when he doesn't know how to whistle the tune that I am. I'd say your little guy is probably just learning!
