I'm really sorry everyone, but after an extremely long, happy and chubby life Sherby decided it was time to go yesterday afternoon He had been very quiet all morning, which is very unlike him. Normally as soon as the sun hits the lounge window (as it was yesterday) we get a lovely song! I got him out after lunch and he sat in my hand and did a big puff that almost looked like a sigh. I could tell he'd just had enough and didnt expect him to last the night. So i stroked him, told him what a gorgeous boy he was, that we all loved him dearly and will miss him very much. He died within the hour These are a couple of my favorite pictures of him... RIP Sherby 1997 - 2009 Fly free my little chunkychump xxx

Thank you everyone for your messages, they do mean a lot. He had been finding everything very hard work the last few weeks so i have been expecting it for a little while. To be honest, i was even considering having him put to sleep if he hadnt gone on his own by this weekend. We have so many precious memories of him and a frayed curtain to remember him by lol, that i actually feel better now that he has finally given up and let himself rest. I know that sounds very callous, but its in his best interests. Jamie is distraught though, he's cried himself to sleep the last 2 nights bless him

I almost asked how the children are taking it, he had been with them for so long, and i know Jamie had such a soft spot for Sherby My favorite picture of him, will always be the one where 3 birds are together ,and he is looking sideways at the camera. His face was such a picture in that one.

The older ones havent taken it too badly, as ive been warning them for a while that he wont be with us much longer, still upset of course but not quite as badly as jamie. He wants another bird, but we wont be getting him one for a good while yet, the way he is at the moment no bird will match up to his "Sherby" expectations. If it is a budgie he wants then maybe in the summer. Do you mean this one... I love that too, shame its a camera phone and not great quality - would have been a fab picture! #heart# And while i was searching for that one i found one of when we first got him.... How chubby was that boy?!?!?! ;D
