I have a pet Black Moore fancy goldfish, named Ink. He's been swimming upside-down and not going to the bottom of the tank lately. I found out he has a disease called swim bladder. I have to get him jell food. Does anyone here know what jell fish food is and where I can find it?

Hi Blaine - I found this link to a goldfish website, you'll need to scroll down to read about swin bladder but it looks like there's a good chance you can treat your fish quite naturally www.goldfishinfo.com/ailment1.htm

I just looked Gel food up and it's pretty expensive to buy off the shelf Blaine, found a recipe for it though... 1 cup lightly cooked vegetables (I used a half cup frozen peas, then the next half cup was a mixture of frozen spinach, frozen green beans, green pepper, & parsley, but you can use other things such as asparagus, mustard greens, broccoli, carrots, whatever you have on hand) If you use frozen vegetables, you don't have to cook them, since they are already blanched. 1/2 can tuna or shrimp - liquefy the veggies and the tuna or shrimp in a blender, - dissolve 2 packets of unflavoured gelatin in half a cup of warm water, microwave till clear, and stir into the veggie mix. Pour into a standard oblong cake pan that is lined with saran wrap and chill. Once set, cut into bite sized pieces with the dull side of a knife. Remove enough for a week, then freeze the rest. When it is frozen, you can use the saran wrap to lift the whole slab right out of the pan, double wrap it, and return to the freezer. It will easily break along the cuts that you have made. Just break off a chunk of the frozen food, and let thaw a bit, then feed. It thaws very quickly. You can keep a few days worth, unthawed, in the fridge wrapped in saran. I've no idea what a 'saran' is but I'm sure you can adapt to use something else - unless you know what a saran is and have one

Actually. Saran is saran wrap. My family uses it all the time! I guess they don't have saran wrap in Australia.

Lol. Ink is doing pretty good. I tried to make the jell food. It didn't turn out so good. The Food breaks up as soon as it gets in the water. It corrodes the water too. It's not much of a jell substance either.

Yes I have a 10 year old daughter so I'm going with your theory Dawn! Blaine from what I can gather it's supposed to break up and fall to the bottom of the tank where the fish can eat it, swim bladder is caused by gulping too much air when they come to the surface to eat
