I was at Lubbock for a few days going to visit my mom's old college. Of course, I had to see what they had in the pet store. ;D
It seemed like a bird place. They had lovebirds flying around your head and other birds everywhere. They had a cockatiel cage with maybe about 5 or 6. I walked a ways over and saw 2 adults and a baby congo a frican grey parrot. They had a cage full of budgies and a few cockatoos. I was able to distinguish a few of them as goffin's and umbrella's. Then I came upon this white bellied caique. It looked like it wanted to come out and play, so I asked the lady at the desk if I could take it out. She let me, and (I think it was a she) hopped right onto my finger! I got to pet her and walk around the store with her on my finger. When my mom started nagging to leave and I had to put her back, she wouldn't let go. She kept holding on to my finger with her beak. It was the cutest thing! Caiques are really sweet, it's just that price turns me away. It was for $800. Why are caiques always so expensive?
The price has to do with the cost of breeding and raising the birds. (and sometimes greedy pet shops : Parrots can be difficult to breed. I don't know about caiques. They are beautiful! It always breaks my heart to leave a bird store when I've been making friends, but I can't afford any new babies now either.
whoa! :oi made a friend at the local pet store too.it was a sun conure and he hopped right on my finger.i found out he likes to nibble.when i put him on his cage,he started chewing on the magazines near him. he was funny.
