Obviously in the Uk ;D
Its too cold for my likeing at the moment, but i have Harvey and Darcy feeding, and petting each other, and they have done for a few weeks now.
So a few questions for you Budgie breeders...
what time could i expect Darcy to lay, is it still a bit early? Anytime now?I have a wooden box in the avairy, which they are thinking is a nest box, and will be fine to be one. They are showing all the interesed signs.
I ask ,as if i can i would like to bring them in doors before they start laying, as i could give them the extra food, and things they need easier.
How long does it take the chicks to hatch?
How many eggs could i expect with a first time hen?

Congrats! Fingers crossed that all goes well... ;D The eggs will start hatching at around 18 days and then hatch in the order they were laid. As for how many, you've already got 2. It kind of depends on the hen. 4-6 is average, I guess. One of my hens lay 3 or 4 every time and another 6 or 7.

well, Scully did not do so well tonight I bought them in, and they now have a fresh nest box, but i broke the eggs (dropped them) They are so lovey dovvey, its so sweet to see my big boy Harvey like that. Hes only had eyes for William untill now. Well fingers crossed, i would like 3/4 more, Thats enough, but who knows she could be put off now. They also have had some oatmeal and egg food, with extra vits. I guess i best get some formula in and a syringe. Sal ..Remember when i hunted high and low for that spoon and thanks Liz, 18 days is pretty quick!

well we have one more egg, but there could be two by now. Trouble is shes not sitting on them, so i dont think its going to happen. I keep telling Harvey to give her some encouragement, but he just sits and looks at me ;D He is such a stunning blue budgie, im very proud of him. As for handraising, i will take it as it comes, if i need to step in i will, but ill leave it to them as much as i can. I will try and see if i can tame a couple as much as possible. As i have a home , if all goes well for one

She may not sit until she lays one or two more eggs. Don't give up hope just yet.
