Happy Birthday wishes to: lady, wildwings, marzipan, Hanlou, flyingzg, stuart65, aeonflight, darlenepachios, coocoolady, debra, ronadevilas, erik, ~Melissa~, livingdeadgirl, aurora, jasmineandme, debree420, Gilbert, mybirdpix, nasiramn, daveday, Tahoma, tenille, mel, silvercloud, and twizle.
There are some interesting bird holidays coming up May which you may not know about… for example, did you know that May is both Duckling and Egg Month? May 1st was Mother Goose Day, and May 14th is Dance like a Chicken Day. Bird related it may be, but I think I'll skip that last holiday…
Some new FID (furry and feathered kid) additions from this month:
-Tel found a nice budgie breeder and got three lovely budgies named Smithy, Gwen, and Dave!
-Blittlered9 brought home a young goffin cockatoo named Buttercup!
-Tel became the lucky owner of an absolutely adorable young pup!
-Sal was able to give two sweet not-so-little dumbo rats a new home!
-Jasmineandme has been busy… she has two new horses (Pepper and Marshmallow) as well as a breeding pair of green cheek conures!
-Twizle has two new sun conures!
Over in the budgie section, Billie's been trying out a new "exercise program" for one of her "big boy" budgies, Harry! The thread "Harry's Big Adventure" is keeping track of the progress, and so far, there is lots of good news! Good luck to you, Harry and Billie.
Sarah's rescued kakarikis, Jester and Bubbles, are doing well and they have several eggs in the nest box. The eggs should have hatched/be hatching right now, so fingers are crossed that all goes well!
If you aren't already reading the "hi from Tinkerbell and Yingshiong" thread in the Welcome section, I suggest it! Member Shanlung posts some very interesting updates. Shanlung has a wonderful bond with his birds and cats and I have learned many things from what he shares.
Congratulations are in order to:
-Canuck, for being awarded the Member of the Month Award! Congratulations, you deserve it!
-Battybirdie and cockatiel George, for being awarded the Bird of the Month Award! Congratulations to an excellent photographer and a lovely bird!
Just as something to keep in mind: in the member section, Sal has a thread about a coming event she will be participating in: the Race for Life. It is a fundraiser for breast cancer research. If you would like to sponsor her team, she has posted a link in the thread. Please keep her team in your thoughts as they participate on June 21st!
To finish on an exciting note, you may have noticed that Bird Crazy has gotten a new look! Thank you to all the staff that helped to bring this about; the boards are looking wonderful. Among the additions are: new colors, new staff icons, and several special areas off of the Homepage, birdcrazy.co.uk : a Memorial for those special pets in our lives who have moved on, a Guestbook for guests and members to share their comments on the site and leave messages for other guests, a "Fun" page with games to play, such as Hangman and Rock, Paper, Scissors, and a Helpdesk just incase you are having problems with the site.
If you have any questions about how to use one of the new features, Sal has posted a thread with some explanations of the Guestbook and the Helpdesk in the "About Bird Crazy" section of the Guest Nest. (Top of the main board page) If you still can't figure something out, let us know!
That is it for this newsletter… see you around the boards!
