Hey All!
I hope everyone is well and I have a quick question regarding my Parrotlet that i just got about a week ago. I love holding and playing with him but he chews on my fingers like crazy. I have quit a few toys for him to play with and chew on but whenever I get him out he goes nuts chewing on my fingers and it hurts! sometimes he'll do it for a while and then stop. I was just wondering if this is normal? or if there is something i need to get for him to chew on more? Even if i set him down on my shirt he will make a bline straight for my hands so he can chew on me! If anyone has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.
Liz

I have heard that about Parrotlets. Seems to be a normal behaviour from what I've heard.

Parrotlets are adorable ;D they are so cute! but yes they are chewy lol. maybe you could try distracting the urge to chew your fingers by holding something he is allowed to chew instead? My budgie is a young lad that is pretty chew happy at the moment and we've worked out that he loves the plastic tips on shoelaces so i went out and bought a pair of shoelaces expecially for him and i wrap it round my hand and arm when he is out. he comes and sits on me and plays/chews with the shoelace for AGES! and all that time i dont get bitten once ;D
Parrotlets are such pretty colours, what colour is your one? ;D

cute congrats on the new baby you will love him, i would suggest that when he bites to say 'no bite' or something along those lines. pull your hand away SLOWELY also when he bites dont give him a reaction (keep voice calm, dont jerk hand away,no loud sounds which seems encouraging, dont fuss if he bites, etc) otherwise you are encouraging him when he stops biting GO NUTS lol in other words praise him

hmmmm the finger biting is perfectly normal... maybe to protect your hands try protective gloves? it may seem wierd but hey it helps

This worked with my amazone: he did the same. Somebody told me to put my finger in my mouth and the parrot stopped biting. I hope it works for you also www.shoppingblogs.org

If they're spawning, disregard the above, I'm not interested in pestering them while they're trying to do their thing. ____________________ What grounds Homeland Season 2 Media and makes it so immediately addictive is the core!
