No, I've not noticed a smell around my ill birds before. I know my kakariki babies smelt bad before I cleaned the nest box. Boris' breath always smelt lovely when she'd been eating celery.

My Monty has this gorgeous baby parrot smell although its fading far too quicky as he is growing up.
Never noticed a change in smell when they were ill though. Maybe the poop was a bit more smelly than usual but nothing more.
