Hi Everyone my name is Debbie and I'm from Oxfordshire I've been having a good look at the forum and I've chuckled and smiled knowingly at many of the stories. I acquired a female Kakariki 2 months ago. When I say I 'acquired' her what I meant was..... While in our local garden centre I thought I'd pop into the pet section, only to find a small green bird huddled in the corner of a small cage being picked on by two larger yellow birds, 30 minutes and 200 pound later I find myself in possession of a beautiful small green bird who I later found out to be a Kakariki I couldn't leave her being picked on As a new owner and her being my first ever bird I can honestly say I haven't stopped smiling and laughing at her antics #wink# She isnt tame at all yet but she loves being talked and sung to, she's soooo endearing when she cocks her head as though she understands you. My other half thinks I'm mad but I've caught him talking 'silly' talk to her too so I know she's won his heart Her name is Kiwi by the way and as soon as she stays still long enough for me to get a non-blurry picture I will post one up. Hope you all have a good Christmas and New Year Deb

Lol As a first time bird owner I had to buy her a cage and all of the toys to go in it, lots of treats and stuff. I think she only cost me £30 #cheesy# She's been hours of fun and is more entertaining than the telly

G'day Deb & Kiwi! Kaks are such adorable birds. The best way to get one to stay still for a picture is to offer her a chilli. hehe
