Sal asked me to write the newsletter for this month..she is busy packing as you know, and of course trying to keep Jon away from the local petshop
So here is.. Aprils Newsletter
First I would like to welcome our 24 new members we had join us in March. You have bought to the BIRDCRAZY membership, a wonderful variety of new Birds for us all to enjoy hearing about, from the larger Macaws, to new Baby Budgies and Finches. This is what makes Birdcrazy such a great forum, where else would you see the lovely, Diesel and Sonny, or see the stunning colours of Lorikeets. Learn the story of Sam, the yellow-naped Amazon parrot, and read about the latest influx of baby Budgie owners…only here, with us BIRDCRAZY people that we are.
We have had a few competitions last month too, with the Scrabble Tournament, and Easter Egg hunt, still ongoing.
:(Winner of ‘Member of the Month’ was Carmz, nominated by Buuzbee, and on behalf of us all, I would like to say we are thinking of her.
’Bonny Birdie’ Competition was won by Buuzbee, with her picture of Coco. The March caption competition was won by Karen, and Congrats to Karen for being our 10,000 poster too.
‘Bird of the Month’ was won by ‘lovepurplebudgies’ with her photo of baby Meg at 2mths. Our secret Judge was Silvercloud, well chosen,
Little Meg is lovely!..
Boy!.. what a fun Month we have had
And here’s why. With lots of Members getting new birds, and Birds getting new ‘Pets!’ its been so active within the forums.
The Baby Kak’s have left the nest! But Mum and Dad have been at it again…Kiki is sitting on a huge bunch of new eggs.
I think ‘Silvercloud’ should just move out of home, and just leave it to the birds. With two new Lorikeets, and a lovely prezzy of two new Budgies, it must be getting tight for space in and around that bird mad house!
Skittle‘s! Tell your mum she should drink Smoothies, its much healthier than coffee for a bird.
:)Hmm.. our little Budgie friend ‘Beekle’ has been learning some new words. I cannot tell you what it is, as Sal has censored it here.
Karen has a huge flock of Corellas right on her doorstep, and has shared some fantastic pictures with us. They must have been a sight to see. Buuzbee has had Hummingbirds, and woodpeckers. While we have seen her lovely photos of Woodpeckers, im sure she is trying real hard to snap one of those fast little Hummingbirds for us. Our wildlife section is well worth taking a look at, and take a look at the great wildlife hospital Feathered pets posted about. This just brings home, how great it is that we live in all parts of the world, and can share experiences, and photographs of our varied lives and countries.
‘Pollyparrot’ told us all the story of her baby finches, while one species she has gave up on some babies that were hatched, another took them on..…and Polly, we are all dying for an update on how they are doing!
‘Lovepurplebudgies’ baby Tiel ‘Meg’ is growing up so fast. The latest pictures, shows Meg getting some lovely spotty feathers, and looking soo cute and cuddly. Makes you feel like you want to give her a cuddle yourself.
Accidents happen…and with Terri’s ‘Pixel’ last month getting hurt by her dog, and Sal’s ‘Frosty’ attacked by her cat, it just shows how sturdy little Budgies can be. Both these little well know birds here, were looking very sad soon after both incidents. Today they are in good health, and back to their chirpy little ways. I think we all sighed with relief.
I hope you have all seen ’Budgiebirds’ avairys..if not go and see them in the aviary section, they are well worth a peek. What an amazing set up! ….and ahh well… I can keep on dreaming.
Cadet Sparky became a ‘time lord’ and got whizzed off to another dimension. He was attacked by Darleks and Dinosaurs, but came out unscathed to man the phones, so the others can carry on with their mission to hunt for the ‘Best Bird Toy’
Yes ..The boys are out there once more! All Cadets and ranks within our ‘Bird Blog’ boys and girls, are bravely searching, to find the best Bird toy ever.
Young Harvey was wounded in action, and is at the moment taking leave in the corner, while he re-coop-erates.
Graham is worried that Sherbert and his lads, are still on the salad, and wants to see them in action. He knows Budgy has been seen to be doing a little baby sitting and is not happy, as he feels time is of the ‘essence’
Boris is flying around…seeking anything she can spot from above that may have the makings of the best toy..in between helping mum with her shopping bill, and ensuring she has not been short-changed. We are all hoping the newly enlisted ‘Stubbie’ can play his part in this mission, but Graham ‘Green’ is keeping an eye out on all new cadets to ensure they are smart and well-preened.
There was a bit of a rumpus in the Kak Hanger, as the youngest cadets we have ever had on a mission tried to help, but Kiki demanded they come home. Her grey fluff balls were far too young for such a dangerous mission for her liking! Kiwi got a real beak bashing for that!
Sergent Harry took over, without his young accomplice this time, and whizzed off on a Ducati to see if he could help.
Peati and Libbi let the ‘millet out the bag‘, when they announced to everyone ‘Ami’ was a scaredy cat!
….but we still have a drinking problem within the ranks, and we are hoping when General Gooby has moved Barracks, he can sort it out!
Well enough of the Blog…lets wish 11 members a Happy Birthday this month, with the latest being Josy ,for yesterday.
It was Birdcrazy’s half year Birthday too, and we celebrated with a mini competition. Yes! …I know….I know…I saw it too . But I wouldn’t want you to worry too much, so I have made the arrangements, just managed to get ‘Her’ in, as beds were short.
I’m sure the M&S new seasonal featheredged Straight Jacket I bought, will fit ‘her’ and perhaps the short ’beak’ will do ‘her’ good.
Some sad news too, with some forum members last month, with Melissa first loosing her little Petrie, which was her very first Budgie. Sal loosing her beloved Dog, Offa. Lin, Angela, and Karen have lost Grabfoot, Nutkin, and Gypsy. Commiserations to everyone.
Two of us have joined the Kak-club (quote Karen) myself being one, with my two new additions from Sal and John, and our recent new member ‘Hellraiser’ .
Hellraiser… I’m looking forward to hearing how yours get on, as we can both learn a lot off the Kak owners here, I’m sure. They are real mischief’s, I have found out very quickly so far! As I find myself pulling little Sugar out of some strange hidey hole or another in my house constantly. Although after the post I have seen by Karen today, perhaps we should be calling ourselves ‘Karens Kak-club!’
Hehe, and how many does that make now Karen?
Budge is greatly missed, while she too is packing, and off to a new home. We hope its all going smooth for you Budge.
Keep Clicking on those top 100 parrot sites everyone, its the best way we can grow our forum, and grow the membership.
To give you an update on BIRDCRAZY4KIDS, we have been quite busy here, but soon we will be testing out the new forum with some members children. If anyone knows thier own children are interested to try us out, wold you please PM me, and i will pre-register them. The forum will stay closed to the public, but they will be able to use it. I am very interested to know thier thoughts, and what they would like to see, and do.
As its April fools day today, I feel like a piece of clay, and i have already been made a mug of today.
Its also springtime here in the UK , our wild birds are out there building their nests, and it’s a wonderful time of year. Flowers and Buds popping out everywhere.
I hope its as good, with you all.
Best
