Never EVER search for hours on the web, order some at GREAT expense to be shipped fresh all the way from AUSTRALIA and think you're doing your budgies a favour. They HATE it-they will not touch it-you will put fresh new damp bits out every day and then throw it away and watch your expensive crop dwindling down day by day-they obviously haven't a clue what it's there for. What is it? It's good old Eucalyptus-ugh-nasty horrible stuff, can't possibly be edible etc. etc. etc. grrrrrr.............

Jules, can you get hold of some seeds? It'd be way cheaper to grow a tree, and they are absolutely lovely. Just don't plant near your house - they have a habit of just dropping huge branches for no reason whatsoever #cheesy# People have been killed by falling branches before - they are massive. if you can't get hold of some, let me know and I'll post you some over

Julie don't just put out the leaves as such hang them in your aviary and the birds will hide and play in them. Spray the leaves and the birds will bath in the droplets as this is what they do here in Oz in the arid areas that don't get very much rainfall.
Persevere it will work out. Look in my photo bucket and you will see how I have arranged the eucalyptus in my aviary.

If you don't have the room to grow a large tree there are some smaller varieties you can grow.

Are we all telepathic here or what , I was looking at this just a week ago (before my computer got poorly). Luckily my mother in law has a tree in her garden and has saved some of the cutting for me to use as perches in my cages. My one concern is how to make sure its clean enough to use, as I know wild birds carry many diseases and my birds are still very young. Any thoughts.

One method I've heard is baking it in the oven for 10-15 minutes at about 150C.
Another is to thoroughly scrub with disinfectant & let it dry in the sun.

Thanks for the offers of seeds and cuttings everyone but I don't really see much point if they don't like it! Avril-I don't have an aviary just a cage and I've tried clipping it to the natural perches they have in there-also put some in their bathing water, but not so much as a nibble
