OK, its been 1 week, and I dont think I am going to keep trying. I am chucking money away! I have been mixing the pellets with the seed, but they are eating JUST the seeds, none of the pellets. And for 25 budgies in the aviary, it takes a lot to feed them!

Cut down the amount of seed each time you fill the dish Buuz, they'll eat it when they are hungry enough.

Do you think pellets make less mess with Budgies than seed? I always have loads of shucks on the floor, as the seed trays are high, and my cage is high. They do have seed dishes on the bottom, but they never really use them.

budgies are grass and seed eaters in their natural habitat. In Australia there were no fruits and vegies as we know today until the settlers arrived over 22o years ago

Small birds are better of on an seed diet. With fruit and vegetables..
I am a believe of feeding live food thats all. Pellets are not a complete diet anyways...
There are a lot of dangers with pellets...Mold growing them..You will not see this...
They go through a metal press and to me that is not really a good thing. Bird have been known to have had metal poising from them..
I am just not a fan on pellets can you tell...

Ive never fed pellets, but i thought they may have everything in them. I have just been looking at different feeds lately.
I feed a seed mix, and lots of everything else..

I've never fed pellets either. (Mainly due to extreme laziness!), but I have to say I'm a great believer in a natural diet, and using foods as close to natural as possible. I don't buy highly processed foods for my kids, and don't like to do the same for my animals.
Having said that, a bird that is on a seed only diet would probably be nutritionally better off on a seed and pellet diet

update: i gave up!!! they were too expensive to be just throwing away! a small bag was $8, i pay around the same for a big bag off good quality seed. All my budgies have been on seed, only my conure eats pellets. I figured, they are so healthy, always flying in the aviary, eating fruits, veggies everyday, they are fine.
