they can be put in the cage debs (space permitting) but they will probably enjoy them more if they are kept as a "treat" for supervised play rather than just always available to them. you could use that to help as another "im nice really" bribe for when they come out and play i like the second one for budgies, there is more to climb on and play with

TBH I dont think theyd be interested outside the cage...I still ghavent got anywhere with Chips, Nemo's a bit tamer but I dont think he'd play on it outside the cage. Maybe I should buy both...1 for in the cage, 1 for outside I'm so gonna spoil these birds, they deserve it!

Ooh I like that second one-it's very differnt. I would keep it for outside the cage because it would cut down on flying space in the cage.

Debs ..Ive bought both of those and truthfully they are pretty naff. They need glueing and once up you cannot take them down. Fiddly to keep clean, and my birds did not really use anything on them. Sorry dont mean to damper your sprits, but you could do worse than go and pick a couple of branches of Hazel tree. Put it in a bucket of sand or something. new cage looks great by the way

I dont really know about them, some look really good. I gave up buying a cheaper Gym after those.
I actually think there are just as good perching things to hang, they will enjoy. I came across a site with a half price sale on simular ones i have just bought. Ill see if i can spot it again, and give you the link.
Do you know what my budgies love the most..I make a bundle out of grass with seeds and small hazel twigs. Keeps them occupied for hours. I just mix it together tie with string and hang it. Do you have a hay rack for your rats? if so try that too with your birds.
just a few freebie ideas

I like the second one! They will probably have more fun on that one.
