OMG! The batty flock has almost doubled in size ! Last night I rescued 4 baby budgies They were in a cage measuring no more than 15" x 12" and all sitting on top of each other they were soooo scared I went to get two of them and came home with all four - just couldn't leave 'em They are so pretty! Photos when computer fixed!

Awww thanks guys , but I only did what each and every one of us on here would have done. It was someone I work with who said that her friend knew someone who had been given some budgies and didn't really want them. She said he had 4 and wanted to rehome 2, so I said I'd go over and have a look. When I got to his house, I found all 4 budgies in the smallest cage ever and cowering on top of each other in the bottom of it. I asked him which two he wanted to rehome, and he said take your pick, so I asked him if he was keeping the other two. His answer to this was that I could have all four of them if I wanted as he" didn't really like 'em that much" Can you imagine anyone not liking birdies It didn't take me long to say yes to that as you can imagine! Anyway when he moved them from their 'cage' into my transport box (which by the way is almost as big as the cage they were in! - you remember the one don't you Scully, it's the one that Sprite was in it that day?), he grabbed two birds at once It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut, but for the sake of the birds I did just that and got them out of there and home as quickly as possible. They are now happily enconsed in my indoor aviary (4ft x 2ft x 5ft) with my other birdies. When I got them home though they were so scared that it took them over and hour to venture out of the travel box, and even then I had to force the issue. They are still a bit on the jumpy side when I put my hand into the aviary to change the water/feed dishes, but they don't fly around in a panic now when I'm just moving around the room. This morning I found all 4 newbies sitting on the millet ball that I made for them all having a lovely feast I've got one yellow, and 3 white/blue pieds. The yellow birdie is called Bella (courtesy of my Mum!), and the one with the most white is called Millie (due to his/her millett obsession) - I'm still waiting for the others to tell me their names, but I'm sure they'll find something that fits soon So sorry not to be able to post pics at the moment gang, but I'll make up for it in a couple of months time when I've saved enough dosh to get my computer fixed It'll be batty birdie overload then , as I still haven't introduced you all to Gertie (Berties new wife) and Jinty (Mr Tickles new wife) So with a beak count of 10 (6 budgies & 4 tiels) - me thinks I will keep racking up the overtime gotta keep that seed coming

I dont blame you, i would have done the same!!! do you think it will be ok adding them to your birds without knowing their history?

Good news! All the new babies are doing really really well They now all have names too Bella is yellow (and a bit of a diva it would appear!) Shylo is Pale blue and white with light grey wings (he/she is the most reserved of the group) Squiggle is mostly white with a few blue squiggles! (completely besotted with Shylo ) Millie (aka Millet-Muncher!) is mostly white with just a few blue feathers Last night I let all 10 of my birdies out together for the first time! Terrifying! It's like sitting in a wind tunnel when they all start hurtling around the lounge I don't think the newbies could quite believe their luck and kept landing on the stairs as they haven't yet worked out that they can't get a grip on the bannister! Have to admit Buzz I was a bit worried about putting them in with my guys, but my house is tiny (1 up 1 down), and I wouldn't have been able to get them far enough away from the others to have made a difference. I did give them all a good look over, and other than being terrified they looked reasonably healthy. Even so it's still amazing how different they look, even in less than a week - bigger , happier , brighter , livelier , noisier - Thanks for all the kind words guys, but I think I was actually the lucky one to have them find me - they are such lovely little people and already I can't imagine not having them around
