im so giddy, one of my first born chicks Yayo, is trying to talk, he already wolf whistles (meg insists hes whistling at him the big head lol) but the other day i was cleaning the bedrooms and i could hear him (he's in Lees room) chattering away but no the normal budgie chatter, like he was really saying something, and today hes sat on my shoulder, with one of my latest chicks on the other, and he is definately saying something one of the things sounded like 'hello Yayo' but in a kind of whisper, im so excited, ive never had a budgie that spoke before, hes adorable. Is it possible that he can be talking so young, he was born 18/08/2005 im not sure what age they start to talk Many thanks

Oh wow! What a thrill! I know what you mean-your ear just picks up this unnatural sound and you know it's something human! I'm sure he will be able to do it at that age! Keep us up to date!

Congratulations! If Yayo is like Beekle he'll soon start paying attention to your lips. After that he'll learn other words quite quickly. Don't be surprised if he gets inventive though. Beekle doesn't seem to realise or care that the sounds he's picked up need to be repeated in a particular order.
As regards the age - Beekle was a late starter. It was spring last year so he was probably 18 months old.
He can spend many minutes 'muttering' away to himself. It can be quite annoying because it sounds like he's talking unless you pay attention closely, lol.
