question on cere and i had to clip thier wings

okay 2 of my 4 newest budgies ceres were brown, one
was even a dark brown, now they are white turning a
light blue on the bottom. ARE IZZY AND LADY BOYS?
lady paired off with my 1 year old lola. that makes me
think lady is a boy too.

oh and i had to clip my birds wings...i felt so bad when
i did it. i only did it because my lil sister got a puppy
and i dont want the puppy to attack them and eat
them. now that we have the puppy i cant take my
budgies out of there cage. i feel so bad.

They sound like boys, but is kind of hard to tell without pictures. Depending on how young they are, the cere color could still change. Young budgies' ceres usually change color around while they are maturing. Lady sounds like she might be a boy. I've seen boy budgies that like boys, but I haven't seen girls liking girls before.

Couldn't you put the puppy in a different room or let the birds out in a room with the door closed? Just some ideas here. Don't feel bad about the clipping, you did it for their safety.

I'm not so sure.....I've had hens in the past with deep brown cere's which have then turned white/pale blue as they're come out of breeding condition. It might be that the new birds you've got are just adjusting to new surroundings, fallen out of their breeding condition, and so they're cere's have turned as well.

Ladys cere is turning more blue and is still with Lola. So far Lady is truning out to be a Lad...Should I still call him Lady or should I start to say Lad? what do you guys think?

Izzy cere is turning brown again so im guessing she wasnt in the breeding mood...probably cuz she was put into a new cage. Now Lola's cere is turning dark brown too...the greens I've been giving them must be putting them into their breeding mode. hahaha

It would be a lot easier to tell with pictures, do you think you could post some? If Lady's cere turns all the way blue and stays there, then she's a he.

<sub>why not get the dog into a diffrent room or go for a walk with the dog while the birds are happy.(I have a dog,and im getting a budgie)
